Location Portraits for AAPD

Meet John Register, combat veteran and disability advocate. Mr. Register was in town for an interview with the American Association of Disabled People.

Part of this visibility campaign was to make striking location portraits of high-profile activists, and feature them in print, digital, and even Times Square!

My client had envisioned an Annie Liebovitz-style dramatic outdoor look. We timed it for dusk, as the background was deemphasized but still visible. The blue suit? That was all John.

Halfway between Denver and Boulder at a rented (accessible) location, we found this nook with greenery and ample space for lighting. John is lit by a 6-foot octa strobe, plus a gridded strip behind him delivering the super subtle kicker or edge light.
