Arizona. So far south you can hear the mariachis. We’re at the Komatsu proving ground or AZPG, a gold and copper mine site where the biggest trucks on Earth are put to the test.
I was there with a videographer to capture images of their newest model, to be released next year. It’s always a privilege to be somewhere nobody else is allowed, and in the shadows of these monsters is no exception.
And this one’s a beauty. The driver sits almost thirty feet off the ground, and powers a million pounds of truck and dirt with a monster 12-cylinder diesel-electric 6-wheel drivetrain.
Comparisons to a Prius? I don’t think so.
