This month, I was tasked by the official American Bar Association magazine, ABA Journal, to cover a complex story involving a jailhouse death, and bringing larger questions about capital punishment to light. One of the subjects, the father of the victim, has become an outspoken death penalty opponent.
In his Pueblo home, surrounded by religious and Native American imagery, we made a series of reflective portraits.
Later, in Denver, I photographed the legal team involved. The publication commissioned two photos and ran both.
